Design Dilemma - October 2005
This month's Design Dilemma demonstrates how great
design can overcome an existing limitation.
Brian and Shannon came to us about their master bedroom:
"Our desire in remodeling our master bedroom and bath
was to have a finished room that was clean-lined in
style, but also a comfortable space to retreat to at the
end of the day. We had just completed painting the
bedroom with a four-step faux finish. Because the color
was intense we were unsure if we could create the design
we were looking for, and were willing to repaint the room
if necessary."
How We Helped
Andrea,a Design Consultant at Designs
of the Interior in Jacksonville started by selecting
clean-lined transitional furniture, including a leather
chair and ottoman, to give a warm, but unfussy feel. Then,
floor covering, bedding, and window treatment fabrics
were chosen to coordinate the wall color and at the same
time provide accent interest.
Finally, lighting and accessories were added to complete the room.
As you can see from the results, Andrea was able to fully integrate the faux paint
finish as if it was planned all along! Brian and Shannon
have a stunning room that offers a true feeling of warmth
and sophistication without them having had to re-paint. The room speaks for itself!
